Immigration through EB-5 visa for restaurateur from Russia

Immigration through EB-5 visa for restaurateur from Russia

Our family’s decision to immigrate to the US was rather spontaneous; my wife and I decided to open a restaurant chain business in the US East Coast.

I conducted a research to find the lawyer most capable assisting us with our business immigration and Irina’s name came up a few times with remarkable testimonials. Nonetheless, we decided to work with an attorney from Florida, who focused in the investment visa area.

We collected all the necessary documents and submitted the application. Our EB-5 visas were approved and we moved to the US. While living in the US we had 3 kids, who are US citizens.

Having successfully immigrated, we still did not want to sell or abandon our business in Russia. For a number of years, we kept managing businesses in both countries and, therefore, frequently travelled between Russia and the US.

At some point we had to extend our stay in Russia and remained outside the US for over a year, violating one of the conditions of our EB-5 visa. I knew that we would have issues with our return to the US, hence began looking for a lawyer who would assist with our case. The attorney we had previously used declined to represent us as he didn’t feel he had enough expertise in that particular area. I recalled Irina’s name and contacted her. During the initial consultation she assured us that she would be able to justify the reasons for our prolonged stay outside the US and we would not lose our visas. She submitted the documentation, and we successfully passed the interview. I want to say that it is not the end of our relationship with Irina. We are planning to get green cards and, in 5 years, become US citizens and will surely use her services again.
