A new “scary” document regarding FBI checks has appeared in USCIS accounts

‼️In recent weeks, many applicants have started seeing a letter in their USCIS accounts titled “FBI Privacy Requirements for Biometrics Collection by USCIS.” The initial reaction is understandable: “Why is the FBI checking me? What does this mean?”
⠀
✅This letter does not mean there is a problem with your case. It is not an RFE (Request for Evidence), a Notice of Intent to Deny, a notification requiring new fingerprints, or a notice stating that a criminal record has been found.
⠀
✔️It is an informational notice explaining how USCIS uses biometric data, including fingerprints and photographs, to conduct checks against FBI databases. The document explicitly states that no further action is required from the applicant at this time. If anything is needed, USCIS will send a separate notice.
⠀
✅What is more interesting is that the letter specifically mentions “Continuous Immigration Vetting.” This means the screening process does not necessarily end with a single fingerprint check, information may be re-verified throughout the adjudication of the immigration case.
⠀
❗️Therefore, the appearance of this notice in your account is neither a good nor a bad sign for your case. It does not mean a decision has been made or that an interview will be scheduled soon.
⠀
✔️If you see this letter, take it literally: “no action required” truly means there is nothing you need to do right now.
⠀
✅However, if USCIS subsequently sends a separate RFE, a biometrics appointment notice, an interview notice, or another request, you should then respond specifically to that document. Not every new letter from USCIS brings bad news, but I recommend checking the “Documents” section of your USCIS account regularly.
