P visa for performers, artists and athletes

P visa category is available to entertainers, artists, athletes and enables the applicants to reside and work in the US for an established period of time.

Who can get P-1 visas 

  • Internationally recognized athletes.

Please note that only athletes travelling individually to the US can obtain professional athlete visa for 5 years. Athletes, travelling as a team, may stay in the US only for the duration of their training and competition, bno exceeding 1 year.

  • Internationally recognised artists.

Only members of internationally recognised cast are entitled to obtain P-1 visas. Tour/performance schedule must be submitted together with visa applications. Visas will be valid for the duration of their tour. Individual artists are not entitled to P-1 visa.

How to apply for a P-1 visa

Amerian counterpart (agent, sponsor, employer) submits I-129 form with the following documents:

  • Copies of any written contracts or summaries of the verbal agreement outlining terms of employment.
  • A written consultation from an appropriate labor organisation detailing the work or services to be performed in the US.
  • At least two documents confirming international recognition of the applicant. 

Visa P-2: requirements 

Artists entering the US through a government recognised reciprocal exchange program are entitled to P-2 visa. Visas are available to both individuals and groups. All members of the aforementioned reciprocal exchange have to possess comparable skills. There is no requirement for international recognition for this visa. 

Visa P-3: requirements 

This visa is available to participants of unique cultural programs or events such as performances, master-classes, knowledge sharing etc. The applicants must be able to prove the uniqueness of the program or event.
