USCIS extends work permit validity to 5 years

From October 1, 2023, USCIS is extending the validity of initial and renewal EADs to 5 years. This was done in order to relieve USCIS employees so that they could process more important documents faster.

The work permit will be extended for 5 years for:

  • granted asylum in the USA
  • applicants for change of immigration status
  • asylum seekers in the US
  • applicants for cancel the deportation process

In addition, from; October 1, USCIS will accelerate the processing of work permit applications from 90 to 30 days for:

  • humanitarian parole holders from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who received a parole through the CBP One mobile application,
  • Ukrainians who have applied for Temporary Protection Status (TPS)
