USA has suspended the Uniting for Ukraine program for Ukrainians

As of January 27, 2025, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has paused the acceptance of Form I-134A, Online Request to be a Supporter and Declaration of Financial Support, for the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program. This suspension is in response to the January 20, 2025, Executive Order titled “Securing Our Borders,” which mandates a review of all categorical parole processes.

USCIS is not accepting new applications for the U4U program from Ukrainian citizens

There is no information how long this suspension will last, or will the U4U program be resumed or closed entirely.

Ukrainian citizens and their sponsors who wish to support them are encouraged to monitor the news about the U4U program, but in the meantime, consider other options for immigrating to the United States.

For Ukrainian citizens who are already in the United States, the period for primary or re-registration for temporary protective status (TPS) is open right now. All information about this is in a separate post on my page.

Ukrainians who want to find alternative ways to immigrate to the United States if the U4U program does not resume its work (which is quite possible) can shcedule a consultation with me – immigration lawyer with 16 years of experience, Irina Lust, using the form below:
